Applying your makeup in the right order can make a world of difference to your finished result!
So for those who may be a little unclear as to what to apply first, here is the ultimate makeup order guide!
Step 1: Prepare your skin prior to makeup application.
In addition to conditioning and hydrating the skin, a good moisturizer will help maintain the eventual makeup application.
Step 2. Apply primer.
Using a good primer will keep the finished makeup application in place for much longer.
Most will apply primer to the whole face but at the very least it should be applied to where makeup comes off most easily: chin, nose, eyelids, and lips.
But do be sure to allow time for the primer to ‘rest’ for a few minutes, prior to foundation application so that it is absorbed into the skin.
Step 3. Apply a long lasting foundation.
A good foundation will even out your skin tone and will either be an identical match to your natural colour or slightly lighter.
Applying in large dots on the central part of the face and then blended outwards should give you a smooth and even complexion.
Step 4. Use a good concealer!
When it comes to concealing, it’s better to build up layers rather than apply in one thick layer.
If a concealer is just needed on certain areas then simply apply in dots and blend in.
Step 5. Loose powder.
Applying a loose powder over your foundation will ensure it stays in place and minimise the effects of perspiration.
Please note that this can also be repeated at the end of your makeup application!
Step 6. Contouring!
Adding blusher to the apples on your cheeks and bronzer in the hollow of the cheek, along the hair line and on either side of the bridge of the nose will evoke different moods, from a softer natural look to a more dramatic one.
Step 7. Detail work.
Now it’s time to focus on your eyes and lips.
Lastly, finish off any look with a dose of lippy colour!
Following the above sequence you will make your makeup application an easier and more enjoyable session!
