It’s time to talk about Heart Disease.
It is vital that all Australian woman, especially those aged 45 and over, understand the risk factors and signs of heart disease, as women are four times more likely to die from this, than breast cancer.
Heart disease is the single biggest killer of Australian women.
In order to lessen the alarming figures surrounding the disease, raising awareness and encouraging an understanding of the risks will mean that women can make healthier choices to reduce their risk.
As a disease that is largely preventable, it’s important that we all know the main triggers:
- Being overweight
- Having a family history of heart disease.
- High blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Almost 30% of Australian women have one or more of these yet many don’t know they are risk factors that must be managed as they don’t have obvious symptoms.

Be aware, understand, encourage donations and share the information, so that no one allows a heart attack to be their first sign of heart disease.
